NOTE: Point of Care Tool databases are meant to be used by practitioners and providers in the field, and produce a very different search result than the more common databases of research articles or publications.
Point of Care occurs when health providers meet with patients or clients to diagnose, treat, and/or deliver healthcare services. Medical providers rely upon Point of Care tools (such as UpToDate) to help them research clinical information that they can use on the spot with patients. They can help guide the provider to an appropriate treatment plan for the patient.
Many evidenced-based and Point of Care databases include treatment options with rating scales (or grades) that reflect the strength of evidence that supports a particular treatment option. Often, citations are included that refer to the original body of evidence/research.
